The first day of the XXVII International Olympiad in Informatics is over and it is the time now to share our first impressions.
The main goal of the Olympiad is to identify and support students with outstanding performance in informatics and IT. Up to four students can represent each participating country with 84 of them this year. During every competition day young contestants will need to solve 3 tasks in 5 hours using several programming languages.
KFU delegation went to Kazakhstan to adopt the practices of organizing and hosting such an event. Members of the delegation consisting of reps from Kazan University, Tatarstan’s Ministry of Information and Communication, Ministry of Education and Science arrived to the southern capital of Kazakhstan and were welcomed by the volunteers from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
Key events of the first day of the Olympiad included the Opening Ceremony and the Testing. The former was a performance, which introduced Kazakh culture and traditions to the guests.
The last occasion of the day was the visit to Kok-tobe mountain located near the city.
